The sheep are just that... sheep. They did not come from far off planets like Mingofla or Gnomia. No, my friends, they are sheep. And Being sheep, they are from planet Earth. They live their sheep lives. The non-lawn ones graze in pastures on farms and get bullied by dogs and then sheared so their wool can be used for making cute little sweaters for puppies. The lawn ones live happy lives on people's lawns.
They were around when the gnomes conquered the world for the first time, in the age of the dinosaurs. They were there to greet the Mingoflian immigrants when they were sent away from their once proud planet. The sheep see both races, and all races, equal.
I sat down with the leader of the sheep, Henra Shopp.
Me: Interesting name you have, Henra.
Henra: I was named after my Grandfather, Henry Claud Shopp. My full name is Henrieta Claudette Shopp. I couldn't stand having my name be so awful as Henrieta, so my nickname is now Henra.
Me: Good to know. What are the ideals of your race of sheep people?
Henra: My people are natives to this world, along with our brother species the goat. But the goat, you see, aren't smart enough to realize any of the things going on in this world between the gnomes and flamingoes. But we, the sheep, do. We see all people, animals, and lawn ornaments equal. After all, both the gnomes and flamingoes are basically strangers to this world, and know not much about it, unlike us. We don't really see the call for all the fighting. We believe we should all live in peace.
Me: A noble idea, Henra. But then would you be happy if the gnomes were to take over the world?
Henra: No, of course not. Nor would we be happy if the flamingoes were to take over the world. Again, they both do not know much about this place, and neither side deserves to own it. Then again, we believe no one should litteraly "own" it, but because all are equal, we should all, in our own way "own" it.
Me: Henra, I'm sure a much smarter person would understand your teachings. But alas...
I DON'T GET IT.
Henra: It is understandable. The flamingoes have taught you first, so it is your only knowledge to belive them and only them.
Me: Uh, exactly. I thank you for the time.
Henra: Goodbye, then.
